Re: Where have all
Over in the Pease Garden Pax reiterates Glenda Holste's question, "Where Have All The Protest Songs Gone, Long Time Passing?"
Here is the comment I posted:
In DC, when Joan Baez sang "Where have all the young girls gone? Gone to young men every one." She stopped and said, "Well, most of them" and got applause from various lesbians in the crowd.
Personally, I'm really into the folk music scene. I go to Falcon Ridge every summer and listen to groups like The Kennedys. This year, I also heard Chris Chandler who has a great CD out, "Something's in the air", which is a must and addresses why we aren't hearing more good protest music.
When I was down in DC, I went to a BBQ at the house of Hypatia Kingsley, who sings with a group called Watermelon Sugar. They have a great song called Republican Shocker you should listen to.
There is good music going on, your just not hearing it on the mainstream stations yet.
